Hirschmann was presenting a new generation of molded M8 sensor cables at the "electronica 2006” show in Munich. These cables, which are safe and easy to handle, are offered in both straight and right angle versions with your choice of a snap lock design, or threaded coupling nuts.
These new and improved molded cables meet all of the requirements regarding shock and vibration resistance, and have two clearly distinguishable gripping zones which are always mounted the same way in relation to the pin locations. Now, when the gripping areas are lined up, the pins are lined up as well. This makes the mating of two cables much faster and easier, even in a blind mate situation. The threaded coupling nuts have an improved knurl, which creates easy grip surfaces and are available in nickel-plated or stainless steel versions. Since all of the edges on these cables are rounded, it is difficult for dirt to stick to the housing and the housing is easy to clean. This also applies to the smooth, over-molded strain relief.
The cables which are delivered in the same standard colors as the connector overmold material, black and orange, are made optionally of PVC or halogen-free, drag chain-compatible PUR material. The cable cross sections range from 0.08 through 0.14 and 0.25 to 0.34 mm2. Through the use of the "Connectors Unlimited" program, other options in terms of color, cable quality and cable cross section can be supplied for customer-specific requirements.
